Rainbows

Rainbows

If you could just for once step into my mind,
read my thoughts that run as fast as light,
know that confusion between how I feel and how I behave,
it’ll all make sense to you, and you’ll see the bursting wave.

There’s a spark somewhere in there that tells me to disobey,
to break the rules, and create my own way,
to walk in silence when I need to respond,
and to cry along when I need to hold on.

To wake with a smile and sleep with a frown,
only tells how this world is to me.
It’s not gentle, it’s not swell, but all I need is a bed to rest.
If only you could see the thoughts I project,
my mind running free,
you’d see how wonderful this world before us could be.

There’s somewhere in this world where our thoughts collide,
where I see yours, and you see mine,
when blue turns yellow and harsh words turn mellow,
where I see you and you see me.
There’s this world I believe in,
that exists in my mind,
where you and I reunite.
